Noninvasive treatments are becoming more and more popular due to their effective results and minimal downtime. Injectable treatments are some of the most popular noninvasive treatments today to help slow signs of aging and restore a more youthful appearance. At Mountain Lake Plastic Surgery, we offer neuromodulators and injectable fillers to help you achieve the look you desire.

Neuromodulators (Botox, Daxxify, Dysport, Jeuveau)

Neuromodulator is a big word for medications that work on nerves and muscles. They work by blocking the nerve signals that cause muscles to contract, working to relax lines and smooth wrinkles caused by repetitive facial movements. Botox is the brand name of the original botulinum toxin, but there are several other effective products on the market that work in the same way. These injectable medications are most commonly used to treat lines between the brows (11 lines, across the forehead, and at the sides of the eyes (crow’s feet). Results from botulinum toxin injections typically last 3-4 months.

Injectable Fillers

Injectable fillers are formulations of hyaluronic gel that are used to fill lines, restore volume, and reshape soft tissues. There are many brands of fillers, and each brand has different formulations that are used to treat different areas of the face. For instance, filler that is injected directly into skin wrinkles is placed superficially and therefore needs to be very thin and smooth. A filler that is used to reshape cheekbones or jawline needs to have more structure and, therefore, is a thicker gel. Products that treat the lips and marionette lines are somewhere in between. Fillers have different durations of action, depending on the product and where it’s placed, but typically last much longer than Botox and other toxins. Remember that fillers and toxins are very different products and can be used in conjunction with each other to address multiple facial concerns during the same treatment.

Am I a Candidate for Botulinum Toxin and Filler Injections?

If you are generally healthy and have wrinkles, lines, lost facial volume, or thinning lips, you may be able to benefit from injectable treatments. Most injectable treatments require little to no downtime, making them an “in and out” treatment.

How is the Treatment Done?

During your injectable treatment, a topical numbing cream can be applied to the treatment area to ensure that you are comfortable. Then, a small syringe and needle will be used to inject the neuromodulator or filler into the targeted area. Treatment is usually quick, taking no more than 30 minutes to complete and sometimes much less.

What is Recovery Like?

There is typically no downtime required following injectable treatments. Some mild bruising, redness, and swelling may occur at the injection site; however, this should dissipate with time.
