Breast Lift with Implants

Many of our patients would like to change both the size and shape of their breasts. If it’s larger, fuller, uplifted breasts you’re looking for, you may want to consider a breast lift surgery with implants (mastopexy + augmentation). This is a popular combination procedure that’s more complex than either procedure alone but can help improve drooping breasts that have lost volume and firmness.

Am I a Candidate?

The best candidates for this procedure are healthy non-smokers close to their ideal body weight. If you’re happy with your breast shape but want more volume, breast augmentation alone may do the trick. If your breast tissue has drooped but you like your size, you may want to consider a lift alone. If your goal is to have sagging breasts lifted and breast size expanded, you may be a better candidate for the lift and implant procedure combined.

How is the surgery done?

Like other cosmetic breast procedures, your lift and implant surgery can be done at the hospital or a private surgery center. Dr. MacLennan offers several different types of breast lifts and choices in breast implants. Her most common recommendation is a smooth, round silicone gel implant and a vertical or “lollipop” breast lift, but she will tailor her recommendations to your particular breast volume needs. The breast lift and implant procedure utilizes similar tactics to the breast augmentation procedure; the implant is placed through the breast lift incision, so there are no additional scars when adding an implant.

What is the recovery like?

We recommend 1-2 weeks off work and 3-4 weeks’ break from strenuous exercise. You’ll be more tired than usual for a few weeks, and it will take several months for the swelling to settle and for you to see your beautiful final result.
