“Mommy Makeover” is not a particular procedure, but rather a group of procedures tailored to a woman’s individual needs. The most common combinations are breast and abdomen contouring, but some women opt for labiaplasty as well. Dr. MacLennan is a mother of two herself and understands that once the pregnancies and breastfeeding are finished, it can be nice to reclaim your body. She’s even done “Mommy Makeovers” on women who aren’t actually mommies! We all have areas we’d like to change, and Dr. MacLennan can give you honest advice based on her years of experience with cosmetic breast and abdomen surgery.
Am I a Candidate?
As for most other breast and abdomen procedures, it’s important to be a healthy non-smoker before having a Mommy Makeover. We know it’s hard to lose all the baby weight, but it’s important to be reasonably close to a normal weight. Because Mommy Makeovers are longer than individual procedures alone and often require more recovery, it’s also important to have enough time for recovery and support at home, especially if your kids are still little.
How is the Procedure Done?
The most common Mommy Makeover combination we offer at Mountain Lake Plastic Surgery is Abdominoplasty plus Breast Lift, Augmentation, or Lift plus augmentation. It’s also a popular choice to have breast reduction plus Abdominoplasty. Labiaplasty is increasing in popularity and can easily be added to other cosmetic breast or abdomen procedures. Some women don’t need a full abdominoplasty and can have a simpler procedure such as a mini-tummy tuck or even liposuction. Mommy makeovers are truly customizable to your individual needs.
After breast feeding two kids I wanted to reclaim my body with a lift and implants. I am so please with the result I feel my body looks better now then it did before kids. I wanted more fullness after being deflated and I felt I wouldn't be able to achieve the result I wanted without the breast lift, I couldn't be happier.
What is Recovery Like?
Again, the recovery will depend on the combination of procedures. A full abdominoplasty plus breast surgery will involve more time off than liposuction and breast augmentation alone. We’ll clarify your recovery needs when you choose your procedures.
