Your breast lift journey begins with a comprehensive consultation with Dr. Susan MacLennan, board-certified plastic surgeon with 25 years of experience in providing personalized breast surgery care. During this meeting, you’ll discuss your goals and concerns and learn about the procedure in detail. She will walk you through the entire process to ensure you’re comfortable with each step.
Procedure
Your breast lift will be performed at Green Mountain Surgery Center, a private, independent outpatient surgery center, close to our office. Using advanced techniques, Dr. MacLennan will make incisions in the breast skin and then lift and reposition the breast tissue, achieving natural-looking, uplifted results.
There are a few different types of breast lift incisions used. Which one is right for you will depend on your shape, size, and details of your anatomy and goals. The incision types include the vertical or “lollipop” incision, the “anchor” or inverted-T incision, and rarely the “donut” incision. The workhorses are the lollipop and inverted-T techniques, since they allow more skin removal and tissue repositioning.
Breast Lift Post-Care and Recovery
After your breast lift, it’s crucial to follow your specific post-operative care instructions. Typically, patients experience mild swelling and bruising, but those side effects will subside within a few weeks. You’ll also want to avoid strenuous activities for at least 2 weeks.
As swelling and bruising dissipates, you will start to see your results. By 3 months, most swelling is gone, and your results will be visible.
