Dr. Alexandra Schmidt is a board-certified plastic surgeon with advanced training in aesthetic plastic surgery. She performs the full range of cosmetic surgery of the breast, body, and face.

Dr. Schmidt is a Vermont native and grew up in Norwich. After training and working all over the country, she decided to return to Vermont to raise her children in her home state. She graduated with honors from The Johns Hopkins University where she earned both Bachelors and Masters degrees in neuroscience. After attending medical school at Vanderbilt University, she completed six years of plastic surgery training at Washington University in St. Louis. She then completed a competitive Aesthetic Society-endorsed fellowship, focusing exclusively on aesthetic procedures including body contouring, facial rejuvenation, and breast surgery at Hunstad/Kortesis/Bharti Cosmetic Surgery in North Carolina. At the conclusion of her training, she joined Dr. Michael Law at Blue Water Plastic Surgery Partners in Raleigh, NC, a practice known for its high-quality natural-appearing results and commitment to patient safety. Ultimately, Dr. Schmidt couldn’t ignore her strong connection to Vermont and relocated with her husband and two sons to join Dr. MacLennan. She shares Dr. MacLennan’s vision for an intimate patient-oriented practice with a focus on beautiful natural results. She is excited to serve the community and the region.

Dr. Schmidt is very involved in The Aesthetic Society and is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). She has co-authored peer-reviewed research articles on improving surgical outcomes and book chapters on plastic surgery techniques and has presented her work to other plastic surgeons at international conferences. She is committed to life-long learning and remains at the forefront of surgical innovation.

Outside the operating room, Dr. Schmidt loves traveling and outdoor pursuits including rowing, trail running, hiking, cross-country skiing, and weight-lifting. She is a dual US/Swiss citizen whose love for travel and culture grew from visiting family in Switzerland and France from a young age. She loves animals and currently has two rescue dogs, and has her eye on a new chicken coop.
