Implant Removal Gallery

Many women are choosing to go flat after breast cancer surgery. Some women choose to do this immediately after mastectomy (aka “aesthetic flat closure”) and others are dissatisfied with their reconstruction and choose this option later. This particular patient underwent reconstruction with implants and a right-sided latissimus flap (tissue transfer from the back) and went on to develop painful capsular contracture on the right side. She wanted to feel more
comfortable and chose to have an implant removal with flat closure. She is shown here 3 months after surgery.

This patient had an implant that had been in for over 50 years. She had developed capsular contracture. Although she was reluctant to have it removed it had become uncomfortable. Because her other breast had aged with time, we were able to remove her left implant without replacing it. This left her with reasonable symmetry.

This patient had very large 700cc implants which had originally been placed to try to fill out her drooping breast tissue. Using large implants to lift or fill out the breast is rarely successful. She eventually decided to have her implants removed with a lift and fat grafting. Her size and shape are now more proportionate.

This patient had multiple implant surgeries in past and now presented with significant capsular contracture. She had her implants removed and the tissue reshaped.

This young woman had previous breast augmentation and wanted to have her implants removed. She had implant removal, capsulectomy, and mastopexy (breast lift). 4 month postop photos.
